Letter to the editor: I read with great interest this week how the Met Police have found £10,000 to offer to anyone who can tell them the name of the person who murdered the young lad Kadar Hussein, who died in Penge.

Don’t get me wrong, I know the death of any 19-year-old is very sad and nobody should lose their life in that way especially at such a young age, but why are they so keen to crack this particular case?

I live in Thamesmead and was shocked when Pam Wheeler, a close friend of my sister, was murdered in Newacres Road last summer.

As the days went by, the police made no arrests and, a month after her death, a re-issue of information and an appeal was launched.

But after that, nothing.

It is now nearly a year since she died, after being tied up in her own home, on July 24.

What I want to know is why have the Met chosen to throw all its cash behind the death of Kadar Hussein, yet victims such as Pam Wheeler are now forgotten?

Does the Met care who killed her?

Or does it not think the person poses a risk again, as the information published by officers last year suggested it was a burglary gone wrong?

And if I think like this, what about the friends of Claire Tiltman who died 20 years ago in Greenhithe?

Where are the police rewards for information about that crime?

As far as I’m concerned, Pam Wheeler, Claire Tiltman and Kadar Hussein should be treated in the same way.

I just want to see a reward which might encourage someone to come forward and help get justice for Pam.
