Letter to the editor: I read your story on Crayford mosque (Mosque Signs Are ‘Sexist’, News Shopper, March 27) with interest.

It amazes me the people of Crayford are to be subjected to a march by far right group extremists, the England National Resistance (ENR).

I think also when you see the person organising this event is former BNP councillor Paul Golding, this march has the potential to cause serious civil disorder and it’s only 100 yards from a residential area.

I am sure the people of Crayford do not want the peace and tranquillity of their town destroyed by a bunch of fanatics.

It will cause massive traffic disruption and cost the borough a fortune in policing.

Reasons given for this march are a guise for the real reason, which is more sinister and not at all genuine.

It is more a race issue and also another problem will be the Anti-Nazi League and other like-minded troublemakers will also be in Crayford on the day to try to clash with the ENR.

These are not ordinary people.

They will have been in touch with each other via the internet, and will travel miles to be in Crayford.

People will be wearing body armour and thick padding so if they are struck by a police baton it doesn’t hurt.

They will wear hats, scarves and hoods to hide their faces from CCTV and will also bring various weapons with them for use on the police and their horses.

We have seen the same people before, with the Welling riot over the BNP book shop.

This is an example of what can, and does happen, as we have seen more recently in London.

The police will be using a huge amount of resources to police this event.

At a time of cutbacks in police numbers, and while the police are tied up in Crayford with this demonstration, criminals will think it’s Christmas and crime will go up in the rest of the borough.
