After ten weeks of solid training, it’s finally time to play! This weekend, GBWR’s “Coloplast Super Series” gets underway. A new format sees every team in the country compete in three tournament style play-offs, beginning at Medway Sports Park in Kent. The idea to compress our main domestic competition in the UK into three showpiece events will allow Coloplast and GBWR to use high-class venues to provide a great spectacle for all who attend.

Members of the GB squad have also been doing their bit to promote the event in and around the local community. This week myself and fellow Paralympian, Jonny Coggan visited “Twydall Junior School” in Gillingham to meet pupils and talk about our experiences in Wheelchair Rugby. We showed a DVD and talked for about forty minutes, answering all the interesting questions that the boys and girls at Twydall Junior had. It was also great fun to show off our chairs in the main assembly hall and I hope that we encouraged a few of them to come down and watch us in action this weekend.

If you’re interested in seeing Wheelchair Rugby this Saturday and Sunday, entry at Medway Sports Park is free with games beginning at 9.30am each day. There will also be a free “taster session” at 2pm on Saturday 19th. For more details go to…

I’ve been blogging for well over a year now and very much enjoyed it so when Channel 4 approached me to do a “video diary”, I thought it was time to broaden my technological horizons! Over the coming months, I’ll be capturing all the key events as well as my thoughts and feelings on my journey with GB Rugby through to London 2012. Whether it’s in the spotlight or behind the scenes, you’ll be able to see it all by going to my profile page at…

While we’re talking about blogging, I just wanted to remind you that GB’s young stars are still training hard in Florida and have appointed budding journalist “Myles Pearson” as their spokesman and “head of PR”. Myles writes very well and his blogs are always engaging and full of enthusiasm. Please check out his posts at…

Lastly today, many congratulations to Mandip Sehmi who won an “Outstanding Achievement Award” at the British Asian Sports Awards on the 5th of March. The sky is the limit for this guy right now. He’s just been turned into a “cartoon” as part of the promotions for London 2012 and has also posed for photos as part of an exhibition for the “National Portrait Gallery”. I did manage to get in on that one (There have to be some perks to having a superstar as a teammate!) so watch this space for more information. Manny is currently out in the States with his US team, Phoenix Heat but you can keep track of him by following his Twitter page (@mandipsehmi).

That’s all for now. I’m off to pack my bag and head to Medway where I’ll be playing for the “Kent Crusaders” at tomorrow’s inaugural “Super Series” weekend. Hopefully I’ll see you there!
