A team of staff members from Millbrook Garden Company are all set to walk between all three of their Garden Centres this Summer – a route totalling 60 miles.

The team consists of 8 members of staff who will undertake the walk over 3 days from Friday 4th Sunday 6th August. The aim of the challenge is to raise money for the Company’s chosen charity, Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, with a fundraising target of £5,000 which would pay for two life-saving missions.

Julie Clare, Head of Corporate Relations at the charity, said: “We are so grateful to Millbrook Garden Company for their fantastic support and for taking on such an incredible challenge to raise funds. The support of local businesses helps us to continue our vital work across the region.”

The walk will begin from Millbrook’s largest Centre in Southfleet, Kent and will take the team along the Medway, past Maidstone, to their newest Centre just outside Staplehurst before heading through the High Weald to Crowborough where Millbrook began back in 1979.

Three years ago, a team of staff started the challenge by walking 46 miles from Crowborough to Gravesend raising an impressive £3,200 for charity. If they reach their target this time, they will have raised over £8,000 for local charities carrying out vital work in Kent and Sussex.

Tammy Woodhouse, Millbrook Garden Company’s Managing Director, says, “I love a challenge and although we know it will be a tough few of days, we are all up for it. We’ve been putting in lots of practice and we’re really pleased to be able to raise funds for such an important local charity, the work they do is just amazing and we’re lucky to be in a position to help them. I’m excited and apprehensive in equal measure!”

Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust provides a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), responding to patients who have suffered trauma or serious medical emergencies. They operate 24 hours a day, ensuring they can be there for the most critically ill and injured people in the region. They operate two aircraft – one from their Marden base in daylight hours, and the other from their Redhill base 24 hours a day. This means that no matter where you are in Kent, Surrey or Sussex, you are never more than 20 minutes away from the life-saving care that only they can bring directly to your side.

The Millbrook team are busy training (and buying blister plasters!) to make sure that they can complete the challenge.
