Over 120 pupils from four primary schools across London, including Millennium Primary School in Greenwich, have taken part in E.ON’s ‘Play in a Day’ workshops, learning all about how to save energy and become more energy wise around the home.

The day-long workshops took the groups of Key Stage 2 pupils at each school through a variety of fun tasks and activities to explore the subject of energy. The young actors then learned and practised a play about the importance of saving energy, which they performed to the rest of their school at the end of the day.

The workshops form part of E.ON’s commitment to helping educate communities across the UK about saving energy and smarter energy solutions.

Suzanne Doxey, Community Relations Manager at E.ON, said: “Our Play in a Day workshops teach pupils about the importance of saving energy in a fun way and encourage all of the pupils to get involved and explore the subject of energy in different ways.

“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to bring this workshop to Millennium Primary School, which lies within Greenwich Millennium Village, as part of this year’s tour. We currently supply heat and hot water through a local community heating scheme known as district heating to our customers at Greenwich Millennium Village. We hope that through engaging with the local community and bringing our energy reduction workshops to local schools we can continue to build on the strong relationships we’ve already developed and offer more support to our local communities.”

Emma Connelly, Year 6 Class Teacher at Millennium Primary School, said: “Our pupils really got involved in E.ON’s Play in a Day workshop. By performing the play at the end of the day to the whole school all of the pupils have gained from the activity and picked up some ideas about the steps we can all take around the home to make sure we’re using energy wisely.”

Play in a Day forms part of E.ON’s broader educational activities, developed to help teach children about where energy comes from and how it is used in our everyday lives. E.ON offers a range of educational workshops through its Energise Anything programme, which also includes online parent and classroom-based activities. These support the national curriculum and have been designed to help pupils aged 5-16 understand all stages of energy production, distribution and consumption.
