Keith Julier, Site Manager for McCarthy and Stone’s Cardamon Court development in Bexleyheath is celebrating after picking up the coveted Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Builders’ Council (NHBC).

For over 35 years, the Pride in the Job Awards have been recognising site managers across the country who are at the top of their profession and are creating homes of an outstandingly high standard. Keith Julier was selected as one of 450 winners, from around 16,000 site managers.

The judging process for the awards is extremely rigorous. As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across many areas, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership, and organisational skills. Only those who demonstrate exceptional standards and outstanding quality are presented with an award.

Commenting on his awards success, Keith said: “I am completely thrilled to receive a Pride in the Job Quality Award. The level of detail that goes into a McCarthy and Stone development is particularly high, and it gives me a great sense of satisfaction to work with the teams on site and deliver a new development to such a standard. To be commended for this by the NHBC is a real honour.”

A total of 15 McCarthy and Stone site managers have received a Pride in the Job Quality Award this year – the largest number of awards ever received by the company. This unprecedented result marks a 50 per cent increase in the number of awards the company won last year, and is the highest number of awards of any listed UK housebuilder in relation to their legal completions. All the successful site managers will be invited to regional awards ceremonies in the autumn, and they will also go on to compete for NHBC Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards.

Rob Loveday, Construction Director for McCarthy and Stone said: “Being named as a Pride in the Job Quality Award winner is a huge accomplishment, and only the most exceptional professionals receive such an accolade. This award is testament to Keith’s commitment to delivering the highest standards, from the start to finish of the construction process; and my congratulations go to Keith for such deserved recognition from the NHBC for his hard work and professionalism.”

Commenting on the Awards, Neil Jefferson, NHBC Managing Director said: “Congratulations to all the 2017 Quality Award winners - the strength of this year’s entries coupled with the judges’ long and hard deliberations over selecting around 450 winners from more than 16,000 site managers should give great pride to them all and their teams. Every year, the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards give us the chance to celebrate the efforts site managers go to promoting continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year, for homeowners and their families to enjoy.“ As it celebrates its landmark 40th anniversary year, retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone is mid-way through a four year programme to invest £2.5 billion in high-quality new developments. This is the largest investment of its kind by any company in the UK, and it will help McCarthy and Stone to meet its medium term objective of building and selling more than 3,000 retirement units per annum.

McCarthy and Stone’s success in the Pride in the Job Quality Awards follows the recent HBF Customer Satisfaction Survey, which confirmed it had achieved the full five star customer service satisfaction rating for a twelfth consecutive year. McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade, which is every year the awards have been run.
