On Friday 7th July, the Year 6 girls bid a fond farewell to Bromley High Junior School as they departed the school forever for a day of celebrations and excitement.

As their open-top Routemaster bus took the girls from the school on a one-hour tour of the local area, the children were heard calling out to bemused pedestrians that they were having the time of their lives! And indeed they did, for a committed team of parental helpers had organised a very special final day for the 46 girls.

The newly refurbished Manor at Bickley Hotel hosted an afternoon of disco and karaoke fun and offered the girls the exclusive use of their beautiful gardens.

The girls’ buffet tea was topped off by a very popular chocolate fountain and popcorn machine and a fantastic Magic Mirror afforded the girls the opportunity of posing for selfies with their friends. A wonderful yearbook which catalogued the girls’ time at Bromley High Junior School had been lovingly created by a dedicated team of parental helpers for the event.

When the time came to present the book to the girls, a very special surprise guest stepped forward; The Worshipful The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Kathy Bance MBE. Every girl was called to the stage to accept their book and the Mayor shook hands with each in turn and offered words of congratulations and encouragement. The ceremony closed with the Mayor being thanked by Head Girl, Elizabeth Reeves and Deputy Head Girl, Jenna Short as they presented her with a hand-tied bouquet of flowers.

What a memorable and special end to a fabulous final day for the Year 6 girls of Bromley High Junior School.
