Bunting, a barbecue and a band.

What more could you ask for in a fun-filled family day out for charity?

How about Pimm’s and Prosecco – and plenty of fun and games for the little ones?

The fun takes place on Sunday September 3, from noon – 4pm at Mill Meadows Farm, Bexley High Street, Bexley Village. Tickets are £5 in advance or £6 on the day. Children under 3 go free.

Katie and Toby Ballard, directors of The KTB Group, together with their friends and family, have raised more than £25,000 for the Evelina London Children’s Hospital since their son Benji was born with complex health needs in 2010.

The couple has previously organised several hugely successful events including a food festival, jubilee party, football tournament and casino nights and they hope this year’s family garden party and open-air concert – complete with Eynsford Concert Band - will soar their fundraising to more than £30,000.

Eynsford Concert Band will set the tone for the afternoon by performing some well-known classics in two 45-minute slots, starting at 1pm and 2.30pm, while the smells and sizzles from the all-day barbecue, courtesy of Hamers of Bexley, are guaranteed to put mums and dads in the mood for food!

There will also be Kentish ales to enjoy, Pimm’s and Prosecco, plus lashings of tea and homemade cakes – all from local suppliers.

For the children, there will be a variety of free activities including sports, face painting, a fire engine - and of course, a bouncy castle!

Katie said: “We have something for all ages and hope to see the local community turn out in force and support us as they have done so wonderfully in the past.

“We’ve been fortunate with the weather in the past and hope that this summer’s glorious sunshine will stay with us into September. It’s an ideal family day out in the heart of Bexley Village.

“It’s the last weekend before the children go back so school after summer and we promise a fabulous afternoon for everyone.”

Diagnosed on the day of his birth with a chromosomal abnormality, Benji, now seven, is a regular visitor to The Evelina for a variety of treatments. He’s had a multitude of operations, including life-saving open heart surgery.

Katie said: “The staff at the Evelina do a wonderful job and our family fundraising is a way of giving back for this.”
