75 years ago the 4th Sidcup Scout Group and the 4th Lamorbey (Holy Trinity) Brownies and Guides came into being. On Saturday July 8th there was a Church service at Holy Trinity Lamorbey to mark the occasion, followed a cake cutting ceremony and a picnic in the Church grounds.

Former members and leaders of the groups were invited and along with present leaders and members celebrated the occasion in style. One Scout who joined in 1945 was Roger Chase who celebrated his 83rd birthday on Saturday. He brought along pictures from 71 years ago and enthralled the younger members with tales of Scouting way back then. Another older member of the Brownie pack, who later became a leader was 74 year old Mavis Forder who joined at 4th Lamorbey 66 years ago. She too had pictures from the early events and stories to tell.

Louise Matthews, a Leader with the 4th Lamorbey Brownie Unit said: “It was a lovely occasion and it is wonderful to realise that after 75 years, Scouting and Guiding are still going strong at Holy Trinity. It was so good to see old members and Leaders taking time to mingle with our younger members and Leaders and we all had an interesting afternoon swapping Guiding and Scouting memories and stories”.
