Stationers' Crown Woods Academy U16 Girls' Football Team are Blackheath Cup Champions In a closely fought final against Prendergast Ladywell at Charlton Athletic training ground, it took a penalty shoot out to determine the winner. SCWADirector of Sport, Alison Smith reports: "At 38 mins Aleece Charles scored the first goal of the match with a superb strike into the top right corner after an amazing run up the wing. Goalkeeper Lucy Gooding, made some amazing saves.
After half time SCWA kept it to 1-0 and had a few opportunities to go 2-0 up. Prendergast however were fighting fit and scored a goal at 80 minutes to take the score to 1-1.
The game went to extra time and after a tense 10 minutes where neither team scored, it went to penalties. Taking the penalties were Ellie, Yasmin, Lucy G, Molly T and Aleece. Lucy Gooding, again marvellous in goal, saved 2 penalties and SCWA won 3-2! This team of girls are commended for their team work, dedication to Sport and for all their hard work and physical endeavor since Year 7. Well done from all of 2012 - the whole Academy is proud of your achievement."
