Golfing enthusiasts from across the county came together at Chart Hills Golf Club in Biddenden on Friday 2 June for the sixth Perrys Annual Charity Golf Day. The event raised £5,608.87 for the Gravesend based charity, Family Matters.

Hosted by chartered accountants Perrys, which has offices in Medway, Orpington, Tunbridge Wells, West Malling and Wrotham, 21 teams competed during the day with the overall winners announced as Harman’s Hackers, which was captained by Perrys’ partner Craig Harman. Just 1 point separated the top two teams who scored 100 and 99 points respectively, closely followed by a 96 points tie for third and fourth places. The winning team were presented with golf bags, with the runner ups receiving ForLife Stumpy Teapots and a selection of quality teas provided by Café du Monde.

Following the competition, guests were invited to a delicious three course meal at the club’s restaurant. Further funds were raised throughout the evening during a charity raffle, where a selection of fantastic prizes was up for grabs including dinner for two at the elegant Mercer Restaurant on Threadneedle Street in London and a day’s play of county cricket at Kent County Cricket Club. A separate auction of a luxury Dualit coffee maker, donated by Café du Monde, raised an additional £140. Other prizes included fresh strawberries from Farm and Landscape in Wrotham Heath, who also delivered some much needed refreshments to players out on the course.

The day was supported by Aytel Systems and Perrys’ marketing agency PMW Communications.

CEO of Perrys Chartered Accountants Stewart Pope commented: “We are delighted that in our sixth year of hosting this event we have once again been able to raise such a fantastic amount.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and our chosen charity. The support Family Matters provides to victims of rape and sexual abuse across the county is absolutely crucial for making lives better - we are very proud to be helping them with their vital work.”

Family Matters was established in 1990 and offers support services to those that have been affected by sexual abuse or rape, including free one to one counselling sessions. It serves 14 boroughs in the county and currently needs to raise £300,000 per year to keep operating. To find out more about the charity, or to make a donation, please visit www.familymattersuk.org.

John Doody from Family Matters, who attended the event as a special guest, said: “It was a fabulous day and thoroughly enjoyable. On behalf of Family Matters, I would like to send my sincere thanks to Perrys for organising such an excellent event and their invaluable support of our work.”
