A magical garden in Dartford will be opening to the public on Father’s Day in a bid to raise money for families facing terminal illness.

Local hospice charity ellenor is promoting its Glorious Garden in Pencroft Drive as the perfect afternoon out for Dads who love plants. Owners Mike and Vanessa Jeans have created a beautiful cottage-style garden, brimming with roses, irises and fox gloves.

“I get a real thrill from so many people enjoying my garden,” said Vanessa. “Gardening is a labour of love, so the more people who can benefit from this, the better.”

For £5, visitors will be able to explore the garden and enjoy tea and cake. There will be a plant stall and a raffle, and a chance to meet the couple’s stone dragons, which are dotted around the garden. Garden designer Alison Marsden, like ellenor, is an advocate of the therapeutic benefits of gardens, and will also give a couple of short talks about Gardening and Wellbeing. The garden will be open from 2-5pm on Sunday (June 18) and the post code is DA1 2PB. If you plan to bring a car, you can park on Shepherd’s Lane and walk into Pencroft Drive, where the Glorious Garden will be signposted.
