Bexley’s voluntary and community groups are inviting local families and residents to come along to a fun day out in Bexleyheath town centre on Saturday, June 3 between 10am and 4pm.

The event will showcase the valuable work of the local community sector, with stalls, games, music and dance – all provided by the groups themselves.

The event is being coordinated by Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) to mark Volunteers’ Week (June 1 to 7).

The organisation’s interim chief executive Vikki Wilkinson said: “We work with local groups every day, and know the great work they do with the people of Bexley.

"This community fun day is our chance to raise awareness of their amazing services and thank them for the difference they make to the lives of local people and communities.”

Among the activities planned will be games such as hoopla, hook-a-duck, splat the rat and a coconut shy, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, meet the animals and a children’s treasure hunt.

There will also be an opportunity to meet people from local charities and find out about their work and their services.

The event is being supported by Bexleyheath Business Improvement District with funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Celebrate Grant.
