These two young Girl Guides from the 2nd Hurst Guide Unit in Bexley won the photographic competition run by their unit in Girl Guiding’s Light, Camera, Action challenge.

The unit were set the challenge by Guide leader Kim Hallworth, who said: “All the girls were challenged to take part and there were categories for pets, families, views and action.

"Our judges, who included three local photographers were so impressed with the work that the girls produced and the quality of their pictures that they gave 14 of our girls Highly Commended certificates and then awarded special winners certificates to Lucy Benson and Pearl Cross, both aged 10."

Kim said: “The judges' verdict was that the standard was really high and all of the girls showed imagination and flair in selecting their subjects.

"Pearl photographed her two-year-old pet Patterdale dog Flint as her subject while Lucy created a beautiful picture of the water at Five Arches in North Cray."

As well as prizes of chocolates and cinema vouchers awarded to the two winners, all the girls who entered and won Highly Commended certificates received sweets.

“All of the girls will be awarded the Lights Camera Action Go For It badge for their brilliant efforts,” said Kim.
