Lewisham’s biggest youth conference - LYC2017 - will be taking place on Saturday 1st April 2017 at Goldsmiths, University of London in New Cross. Aimed at 10-19 year olds it has become a must attend event for young people across the Capital.

Kicking off at 10am in the morning and consisting of a conference element comprised of information stalls manned by the likes of Ernest & Young, NCS The Challenge and Millwall Community Trust, this will be followed by a series of workshops covering everything from youth mental health issues to how to become a young entrepreneur.

Lewisham Mayor, Sir Steve Bullock and Lewisham Deptford MP Vicky Foxcroft are just some of the local dignitaries lending their support to this event. In addition, the entertainment portion of the event will showcase young unsigned talent including singers and poets as well as established artist such as Tizzy & Brandz. Hosted by comedian White Yardie, who has an Instagram following of over 200,000, the event promises to be a success.

Andrew Brown, CEO of event organiser Elevating Success said: “Lewisham is a stone’s throw from the City and yet so many of our young people fail to raise their aspirations above the horizon to see the possibilities that exist on their doorstep. We’re not suggesting city life is for everyone, but we want young people to aspire to be more than reality stars.” This FREE, ticket-only event has been funded by Lewisham Homes, Travis Perkins, L&Q housing provider and many more and provides attendees with a free lunch too.
