The curate at St Nicholas Church, Chislehurst has released a jazz album, now available on CD and on iTunes.

Reverend Dr Tim Boniface, who will be ordained as a priest later this year, is a professional musician who previously earned his living as a jazz performer and teacher.

After completing his theological training, Tim moved to Chislehurst with his young family last year to take up the position of curate at St Nicholas. He will spend at least three years working alongside the Rector of St Nicholas before being qualified to run his own parish elsewhere.

While at theological college, Tim was inspired to write 'The Eight Words', an instrumental jazz suite reflecting on the eight sayings of Jesus in the passion according to St John.

A professional recording of the suite has now been released on CD. Critics have described it as “brilliantly original”.

A reviewer on iTunes writes: “From the first chords, the music opens on an original note, grabbing you by the ears and not letting go until you've been marched through an engaging, intellectual and at times harrowing musical exploration.”

Tim and his ensemble will be performing 'The Eight Words' at a concert hosted by St Nicholas on Saturday 8th April at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10, available from tim.r.boniface@gmail.com or 0208 467 0196 More information at timboniface.co.uk/recordings
