Well-respected local chamber choir, the Sine Nomine Singers, present their first concert under the direction of their newly appointed conductor, Jonny Davies.

Originally from Green St. Green, Jonny Davies is a sought-after singer and choral director, having been director of music of St. Olave’s church and St. Katharine Cree from 2007-15, sung and recorded with Schola Cantorum in Oxford and the Holst Singers in London along with many of London’s professional church choirs. He has acted as musical director at St. George's, Bickley, the choir's usual concert venue but this concert will be performed in St. Mary Cray.

The concert will include the concert performance première of St. Magnus Mass, written recently during illness by William Petter, the choir’s former conductor. Choir member Carol Whinnom said “While we are delighted to welcome Jonny as our musical director, we are deeply saddened by William’s untimely death. As a choir, we want to pay tribute to William’s inspiring musicianship. The joy he took in music-making lives on when we sing his music.”

The programme also includes music by Stravinsky, MacMillan, Gibbons, Walton, Purcell, and others. The concert, in St. Mary Cray, will help to raise money for Woodlarks, an organisation that provides camping holidays for adults and children with physical disabilities.
