Beckenham based Yoga centre Breeze Yoga, is supporting Ellie’s Friends, an organisation dedicated to putting the joy back into the lives of adults living with cancer. Breeze joins supporters including The London Eye, Decca Records, Nando’s UK and Give-a-Book, all of whom supply “freebies” and discounts to help offset some of the financial and psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis.

Manager Claire Dunphy says: “We support adults living with cancer in the area via Ellie’s Friends by offering free meditation classes and 50% off all other classes on our schedule.

The benefits of yoga and meditation to cancer patients are many, but can include an increased sense of relaxation and reduction in stress to combat the side effects of treatment.”

Breeze runs two meditation classes that may be of specific interest to cancer patients: Energy Healing which takes place on Tuesdays 12.45-13.45 and Evolutionary Meditation which takes place on Wednesday evenings 20.15-21.15.

Both of these classes are offered free of charge to Cancer Patients registered with Ellie’s friends. These classes are open to all so that patients can bring along family/friends to share in the experience (normal class fee of £15 per class for friends and relatives applies).

Breeze offer over 80 Yoga, Pilates and Meditation classes a week and for any patients wishing to enjoy restorative and gentle classes when able to do so, there are plenty of options to choose from on the schedule.

Ellie’s Friends user Anouska Bush from Bromley says: “Ellie's Friends is an amazing charity offering cancer patients little treats to look forward to, at a time when life revolves around hospital appointments. I have metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer that has spread to other parts of my body) but Ellie’s Friends offers fantastic escapes from the seriousness of cancer, its treatment and side effects. Treats and nights out are the first things that are sacrificed when cancer strikes. Full time work becomes impossible so finances are hit and cut-backs are made. Ellie's Friends offer a little piece of sunshine in, what can be, a very dark time.”
