The Fitzrovia Radio Hour will be in Blackheath on Saturday 25 March performing brand new versions of 1940s style radio plays to support St Michael's Church restoration appeal.

Blending comedy, homage and satire to create a heady theatrical cocktail, the cast of three will create all the sound effects live as you are transported to a bygone age of stiff dinner jackets and even stiffer upper lips, and it's all “Rippingly good fun.”

Doors open at 7pm in the Church Hall in Blackheath Park, SE3, and the evening starts with a light supper of fish & chips from Vintage Fish, homemade desserts and a licensed cash bar.

The hour-long show follows, last orders for carriages are at 10.30pm and limited tickets at £20 each are available from M Thornhill on 07752 303133 - so book soon.

More information can be found on The Fitzrovia website at http://www.fitzroviaradio.co.uk/ which, with no hint of modesty, boasts of "original radio plays of the 40s and 50s performed and recorded with cut glass elegance in front of a studio audience, with all sound effects created live. They refute the notion that the well-crafted written word is dead. It is alive and well and will always look its best in a dinner jacket."
