Greenwich’s newest children charity, the Big Red Bus Club in Charlton Park, have launched an incredible new free service for disabled children under five, funded by the Postcode Lottery.

Play Plus in the new group that works with local artists and therapists to provide a wide and diverse programme of activities targeted at very young children, their families and the extra challenges they may face.

So far, local kids have flown on magic carpets exploring transport with a specialist mindfulness therapist, enjoyed Djembe drumming workshops and this week celebrating Chinese New Year with Global Fusion Music taking part in a lively Dragon Dance across Charlton Park.

Play Plus’s purpose is to introduce arts based therapeutic interventions to under fives many of whom may not have reached a diagnosis. The open to all ethos has meant that families often excluded from regular services to disabled children and those with special education needs can get the vital early support they need.

Jane Gwinnell, mother to Sophia Rose pictured above; “Coming along to Play Plus has been life changing. We have been coming for the last few weeks, and my Sophia as so engaged, her heart condition can be isolating for us. Play Plus is incredible."

Play Plus is run every Monday morning at 10am – 12pm term time only at the Big Red Bus Club in Charlton Park.
