FRUGAL shoppers have been getting a bra-gain at a discount store in north Kent.
According to 99p stores, sales of its padded bras, which come in a range of colours and sizes, have tripled in the last 14 days.
Boss of the chain Hussein Lalani says the increase could indicate the public is losing confidence in cosmetic surgery.
It follows a government backed review earlier this month into French made PiP breast implants after they were found to be made up of non medical grade silicone.
Mr Lalani, who owns the stores in Gravesend’s St George’s Centre and Dartford’s The Priory Centre, said: “In the last two weeks sales have soared.
“It may be a subconscious thing.
“For example women may be thinking that any future plans of implants should go on hold or postponed in view of the crisis and that in the meantime they want practical non-surgery profile boosts.”
Anti-wrinkle cream products have also surged, with 5 per cent more women buying the lotions in the last two weeks.
