A PIG which was on the loose near Hewitts Roundabout after thieves stole an animal sanctuary's wire fence has been returned to its home.

Jodeen Animal Sanctuary owner Danny Day is not sure which one of his 19 pigs got out earlier today but says trespassers were on the land earlier.

When the 50-year-old went up to the site in Sevenoaks Road, Knockholt, at around 1.30pm today he found the fencing had been stolen, the chicken coop had been opened and one of the ponies was out of its field.

He said: “One of the volunteers was up here at 9.30am and it was fine but between then and 1.30pm someone had got the animals out.

“Someone is getting in and taking the panels.

“I think they just see a piece of scrap metal and take it and then the animals get out, I don’t think it’s malicious.

“I have never had so much trouble in all my life.”

Mr Day says this is the second time thieves have stolen the fence at the sanctuary this week.

A Bromley police spokesman says this is an ongoing issue with 10 calls coming in from people living in the area in the past few weeks.
