A 19-YEAR-OLD singer from Thamesmead has been voted a hit by the judges on TV's The X Factor.

In last weekend's show Annastacia Baker made it into the final 24 contestants after coming through boot-camp at the O2 in Greenwich.

The former pupil of Cleeve Park School in Bexley Lane, Sidcup, is in the girls aged 14-24 category - which will be judged by Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.

She now faces an intense two-day competition at Ms Cole's house in Cannes, France, after which two people will be selected to go through to the live final rounds of the show.

Annastacia, who lives with her mum Rose in Drake Crescent, Thamesmead, said: "I'm still in so much shock.

"I just can't believe how far I've got.

"This is such a great experience I don't want it to end."

The mother of six-month-old daughter Nevaeh added: "I'm going to keep on trying and trying no matter what happens.

"I'm going to keep going and boy am I going to do my best when I get there.

"I can't wait."

See how Annastacia got on by watching the show on Saturday at 7.45pm on ITV1.

If Miss Baker makes the big time, do you think she will continue living in Thamesmead?

I doubt it.

Let's hope for her sake that she goes on to win the contest!

It really doesn't matter if Annastasia lives in Thamesmead or not. And if she goes on to win the show am sure she will be an ambassador for other young people a like and older this is what she always desires.
Please stop being negetive. Would you say this to your child or if you were in her position would you like someone to pass such remarks be someone else rather than being a critic

Well done Annastasia you have place our little town Thamesmead on the map if you go on to win it will inspire the young mothers to fight for what they want and it shows that having a baby cant stop anyone from achieving their dreams. Keep on going you are the best.
