NEWS SHOPPER joined the crowds at this year's Thamesmead Community Festival today - watch the video of the event here.

The annual free festival organised by Trust Thamesmead was held in Birchmere Park.

Among the acts performing on the main stage were finalists from this year's T-Factor competition, as well big names like Hot Chocolate, Jaki Graham and Michelle Gayle.

The festival had a laid-back feel with a Hawaiian beach for people to get away from it all.

And a Health Zone, with alternative therapies and Tai-chi for those who still needed tips on how to relax.

For the more active residents of Thamesmead there were sports, bouncy castles and of course lots of dancing.

A big thank you to the staff and Trustees of Trust Thamesmead - the event sponsors Gallions, Axis, Tilfen Land, London City Airport, and the London Borough's of Greenwich and Bexley - but mostly to the people of Thamesmead for making it such a great event.

yeah your right it did go on till teh end i did not realise how late it was when we left.

There was more trouble which happened on the streets around from what i have heard.

Shame that Old Bill would step in and move a drunk lady but not help kids get out teh way of fighting

Why didn't the Majority of the crowd, sort out the 'few' troublemakers then?
