Darren Johnson welcomes Transport for London cycle park plans for Brockley

A NEW cycle park will be built at a train station, transport chiefs have confirmed.

The news from Transport for London about the planned Brockley station facility has been welcomed by London Assembly Member and ward councillor Darren Johnson, who had questioned whether a new shelter would be installed.

A previous cycle park had been removed in order to accommodate a new set of ticket barriers, but the one replacing it will hold up to 20 bikes.

Due to an embargo on construction during the Olympics work is scheduled to start in September, though TfL said they were seeking permission to start in July.

Mr Johnson said: "I'm delighted that Transport for London have responded to local concerns about the loss of cycling facilities at Brockley Station and awarded a contract for the installation of a new cycle park."
