THE number of people killed or seriously injured on Kent’s roads fell by five per cent last year.
Crash statistics show that the total serious road casualties across the county fell to 519 last year, compared to 545 in 2010 and 629 in 2009.
Kent County Council's cabinet member for environment, highways and waste, Councillor Bryan Sweetland, said: "This continued fall in figures has come about as a result of a lot of hard work by county council staff, together with Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Medway council and other agencies.
"We are not complacent about these figures, however, and will keep up the good work in an effort to reduce the numbers still further.
"Drivers in turn can help us by driving safely and taking responsibility for their actions on the road."
