A BLANKET of snow is covering the area after the big freeze brought dumps of up to 16cm overnight.
Although the worst of the snow will move eastwards, the News Shopper region has been placed on amber alert, with the Met Office warning of icy conditions.
Today the maximum temperature is set to be 2C with light winds.
Tonight the Met Office forecasts it will be largely cloudy, but mainly dry, perhaps with some clear spells.
And there will be icy patches on untreated roads with a few spots of rain or sleet possible towards dawn.
The minimum temperature will be -5C.
Tomorrow it is set to be mainly dry with occasional patchy light rain likely, with the possibility of some sleet.
The maximum temperature will be 6C.
