A TRAIN tunnel extension has been completed.
The tunnel extending the DLR under the Thames to Woolwich Arsenal was finished on July 23.
A 540-tonne boring machine worth £5m was used to break through the earth on the south of the Thames.
The £180m, 2.5km extension will link Woolwich south of the river with DLR station King George V in north Woolwich.
It will form part of the improvements to the transport network ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.
There will also be an interchange with mainline services on the north Kent line.
The Woolwich Arsenal extension will open in 2009.
