EVER fancied trying your hand at bellringing?

People will get the chance to learn more about the art of campanology and take a turn themselves when the Charmborough Ring visits Bexleyheath Broadway on Sunday (September 28) between 10.30am and 4pm.

The mobile ring of bells is a scaled-down version of the bells heard from church towers up and down the country.

It has six bells and the largest, a tenor bell weights 94lbs.

During the day, local bellringers will be showing how it is done and passers-by will also be invited to give bell ringing a try.

Local groups are always looking for new ringers, so there will be opportunities to take things further, if people enjoy the experience.

The event is part of Open Rehearsal weekend, organised by the Mayor of London, which will give people an opportunity to get behind the scenes of London's creative and cultural organisations from fashion, to film, to museum collections.
