A HOTEL in Blackheath has been overrun by musical guests taking part in the X-Factor boot camp.

The group of around 80 people has been staying at the Clarendon Hotel in Montpelier Row since Sunday (August 3).

Staff there are now getting used to hearing songs in the middle of the night and having guests order food late.

The hotel's general manager Ken Milton says there have been no unusual requests from the singing hopefuls.

But he says they are always asking to use the function rooms to practice late into the night.

Mr Milton said: "It has been a really great atmosphere and everyone is practising in different corners of the hotel.

"These people are put in different groups and they have to come up with their own versions of songs.

"They have been working really hard and it is a wonderful mixed group from 16 to 70."

He added: "The initial enquiry was for a certain number of rooms for so many nights then it was revealed that it was X-Factor."

The boot camp is taking place at the O2 in Greenwich.
