A BROMLEY MP has expressed his concerns in Parliament over plans for a coal fired power station in Kent.
Conservative MP for Bromley and Chislehurst, Bob Neill, said building a coal fired power station at Kingsnorth, in Medway, Kent, would be damaging to the environment.
He claimed the government was ignoring local environmental concerns by proposing to build a power station before technology designed to reduce carbon emissions from power plants had been developed.
Mr Neill said: "Many concerned Bromley residents have contacted me about the possible environmental impact of a new coal fired power station so close to home and I am disappointed that the government are not considering the need for low carbon technology."
He has now signed a Commons motion calling for a public inquiry into the application to build the Kingsnorth power station.
