A COUNCILLOR says there is no place for nuclear waste in the Bromley borough.
The Government published a consultation paper on June 12 which recommended local authorities should come forward if they were willing to store waste from nuclear power stations.
In return, the Government would give them cash.
The Government says deep underground holding facilities could be built for the nuclear waste.
However Bromley Council portfolio holder for environment and leisure Councillor Colin Smith said: "Clearly we have heard the Government statement.
"But I conceive of no possible circumstances when Bromley would contemplate such proposals.
"My own view is no under any circumstances.
"Even if the geology were correct we wouldn't be interested."
