THREE burglaries have been linked to a long-running manhunt for a serial rapist who targets elderly victims.

The most recent incident happened on Wednesday (June 4) at around 2am in Lee.

On May 17 at around 3.40am officers were called to the scene of another burglary in Downham.

And six days earlier, another burglary took place in Norwood.

Police say they have no reports of any injuries but officers from Operation Minstead have been informed.

The operation was set up by police following a first possible offence by the attacker in Forest Hill in February 1992.

He breaks into the homes of lone elderly victims in the early hours of the morning and cuts off electricity and telephone lines.

As well as sexual assaults on both men and women the suspect has burgled his victims' homes.

The serial rapist, a black man aged between 30 and 40, targets victims between the ages of 68 and 93.

Police ask that anyone with information calls Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
