NEWS Shopper is launching a retro section in our newspapers and online - and we want you to be the stars of it.
Every week we will pick at random a different year to focus on in the paper, going as far back as 1965 - the year News Shopper started.
We will take you on a nostalgic trip back in time for a light-hearted look at memorable events, people, fashion crazes and more from each year.
Delving into our news archives, 'I Remember ...' will give you a snapshot of what was happening locally at the time.
And we will recap some of the things going on in the wider world of news, sport and entertainment.
You can get involved by sharing your photos and recollections.

First up is 1976 - a year of highs and lows. Do you remember the industrial unrest and raging inflation, the long hot summer which led to water rationing, Abba at their peak, the first Muppet Show, the start of the punk era?
We would love to see your favourite photos from that year - make people laugh at your hairdo or cringe at the clothes you were wearing. Or send pictures of friends and family or local places if you are embarrassed by your own style from the time!
We want to hear your memories too so tell us what your personal highlights of the year were - were you leaving school, buying your first car or getting married? Also, what news stories or key events stick in your mind?
An I Remember 1976' page will appear in the paper soon.
You can also start sending photos and recollections of other years from between 1965 and 1990 for future weeks.
Everything submitted will be published on News Shopper's site where interactive sections for the 60s, 70s and 80s will be created.
Let's celebrate the happy days from those three great decades as well as relive some of those moments in time which are best consigned to history.
Send photos or memories by post to Simon Bull, News Shopper, Mega House, Crest View Drive, Petts Wood, Kent, BR5 1BT - all pictures will be returned.
Its a well known fact journalists get ideas or stories from each others magazines or newsspapers and reuses them. Just tweak the odd word here or there. Relax

There is only one [bold]Lord Erastus Theobald Piggott[/bold]!

My Lord, are you really Jeremy Clarkson writing under a pseudonym? Most of his articles are written just to provoke a reaction, just like yours, it would seem. Btw, this is not a complaint.

I would love to say I'm flattering the Petts Wood Residents' Association magazine by imitation as I'm sure it's a fine publication. Unfortunately though I've never seen it and I've got no idea what the Yesterdays feature is.
All I can talk about is News Shopper's new interactive retro section - which I hope is going to be fab, thanks to the help of our lovely readers. I hope it's going to build into a very interesting part of the newspaper and a very worthwhile and enjoyable resource online.
Obviously if the Petts Wood Residents' Association or any other local groups want to contribute to it, they would be very welcome.

Can anybody help, in the late 80's a toy shop opened in bexleyheath broadway.
Just so happens I was there with my mum on the opening day snd my picture was taken by a News Shopper Photographer, and I appeared on the front page. I was wondering if anybody remembers the name of the shop? Or if the ews Shopper can find my picyure in their archives.

Simon,
Your organisation is based in Petts Wood and you have never seen the Gazette? Shame on you!
I'll drop a copy of the June edition round to the office when we publish it at the end of the month.
Ed.
PS Hope the 'I Remember...' feature goes well.

Zodiac Toys opened a relocated branch on the outside of the Broadway Centre on 28th January 1984. Zodiac previously had another branch in the town that they took over from Youngsters in 1981. For more about Zodiac's 85 branches all long since closed, see [bold]Zodiac Toys Remembered[/bold] at www.freewebs.com/zod
