Condonlences to his family. I went to collect my car a little while after this tradegy and i think the police should have been a little more polite, telling people not to look and just go away - doesn't help anyone! There were people on the bridge watching! and i personally didn't want to see anything.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts. David was a great son, father and husband. He saw the good in everyone and was always there with a joke and a smile. He worked in the advertising world and was known throughout the industry. David always thought of his family first and this is what killed him. He had left a toy car for his son and flowers for his wife on the train - something he bought every Friday. We are absolutely devastated at his loss and we can never see an end to the thoughts of this tragic time. Thank you all - it is a great comfort that we are receiving these messages.

Had the privilege of working with Dave on Charlton Live (Millennium FM) where he tech op'd the show for Mark Mansfield and co, we used to rib him rotten about his mullet - always took the jokes and gave as good as he got. As everyone has said, he was a decent, honest, nice bloke. Always smiling. Thoughts are with his family. RIP.

Dave, you always had me in fits of laughter. I will always remember heated discussions about your taste in 80's music and your bad taste in summer clothes. The world feels that more hollow without you in it and my heart is with Shelly and Daniel, your Mum and Dad and also with Nicky and Lyndsey during this terrible time.

My wife Sam and I shared a flat with Dave for about 2 years. During that time he ate nothing but cheese, pot noodles and bread.
His language got ever more colourful with each passing day and there was no escape from his 80's music taste, Charlton FC and bottles of sweet sherry.
Now that he has gone, we will treasure those times more than ever. His outlook was always positive and as everyone says here, he always had a smile on his face. I keep expecting him to walk through the door, bandying about his favourite expletive.
I have such happy memories of him and a sense of loss I have never felt before.
Our condolences go to Shelley, Daniel and all the family.

These messages are so comforting thank you. Dave did a crazy thing for me and Daniel and it cost him his life. I have lost my best friend and the love of my life. Daniel has lost a fantastic Daddy. To those of you who have not met Daniel he is just like Dave, beautiful, funny and mildly irritatiing. Dave was amazing he had a huge amount of energy and his wit was incredible. I have stories of Dave that make me cry with laughter. There is now a huge void in our lives Thank you for all your messages, Dave will be loving the limelight.
I know his last wishes and they are - "Celebrate his life and no to sad faces."

Dave I love you with all my heart - at night now Daniel and I kiss first then we have a kiss and a hug for you". Forever with me. Shelley.

Dave was the kindest, funniest person we have ever had the pleasure of working with. My sister and I worked with Dave at Partners BDDH where we enjoyed Dave’s various catch phrases on a daily basis – ‘sandwiches’ being one of our personal favorites. Being in touch with Dave only last week on email makes this tragic accident seem even more surreal. He will always be remembered by us for his unique infectious humor and cheeky grin.

A note to Kathy, Tony, Shelley, Nicky and Lyndsey and especially to little Daniel. Our love and thoughts are with you at this time. We can not believe this happened, and are shocked and stunned at the news. It seemed such a short time ago when we were all sat around the table laughing at the wedding, and now this has happened a year later almost to the day. Dave was funny, warm, caring and an engaging young man with a real sparkle about him. If we can do anything at all, look after Daniel, help with any arrangements or just be there to talk you know we are here for all of you. Always. We are thinking of you. I sincerely hope you can all find some peace after such terrible news...

The sorrowful news was certainly a great shock to all of us. Yet its wonderfull to see from all these comments that Dave was well liked and respected. May his Dear young Soul Rest in Everlasting Peace .

I worked at BDDH with Dave in the early 90's. You were a one off mate, I'll never forget you. One of the funniest people I've had the pleasure of knowing. Leslie, Mick and Derek had no idea what they had let themselves in for when they hired you. God bless you Dave.

I have just learned of this terrible news from my sister who very kindly contacted me.
I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Dave and being friends together during our teenage years. We did some really crazy things back then which still make me smile, he had an amazing ability to make you laugh, his sense of humour was just so infectious. If ever a person could truly be described as the "life and soul of the party" this would be Dave, always at the centre of everything.
Its heart warming to read all the wonderful comments posted here which show that Dave never changed from how I knew him.
You clearly meant so much, too so many people, in so many ways! God Bless Dave!

Tony, Kathy and all the family,
My thoughts and condolences are with you all.

We had the pleasure of having David & Shelley share an extremely happy time with us together with our friends and family back in January, here in Switzerland. David was so excited about coming over.
We laughed and danced together most of the evening.
All my guests commented on what a lovely and very funny guy and a gentleman David was.

Shelley, feel comforted by knowing that we will always be here for you and Daniel. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and David's family.

Everything said about Dave is true X 10, particularly when it comes to"life and soul" and "loud".
Dave sat between Rob and I at Charlton for 15 seasons. In the Pub before a match, Rob now has to talk to my left ear and I have to address his right ear, so we look like slow motion head bangers.
Never knew how much you meant to me until now, boy. Love you, Tramp.

I did not know Dave -but I can tell just by reading through these comments, that I would have liked him very much. I have had a heavy feeling in my heart all week since hearing this story and as a commuter on the Dartford line for nearly 30 years, taking it so much for granted, I am now so much more cautious.

Shelley - no words can express how you must be feeling at this time - but please do take comfort in the many words of support from those on this site who obviously loved Dave and have so such wonderful and fun memories of him. God Bless you and Daniel.

    Dave, it's all been said.
My memory of a friday night at the Valley against QPR, and what comically happened afterwards, will never be forgotten, nor will you Sir.

Rather than DD, you always represented FF to me - the Feelgood Factor!

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I knew Dave through business along with Andy Bird. Dave was a person that as soon as you met him you immeadiatly liked him. He wasn’t just funny, which he was, he was also sincere, great company but alas a Charlton fan. I wish I had met up with him more often than I did but alas in this (advertising) game it’s not always possible, and that return phone call sometimes never happens. I am shocked and sad at his death but will remember him fondly.
My sincere condolences to Shelly and family.

"What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. They are but trifles to be sure, but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable"
I think of Dave smiling, I remember Dave, with a smile.
May you all-Shelley,Daniel and Daves's family find solace, strength and comfort in knowing how deeply Dave was loved, as his smiles are returned ten-fold in these heart-felt tributes.

I worked with Dave at Partners BDDH some years back. Always remembered him as a happy, smiley bloke, always joking and having a laugh. I am shocked! My love and condolences go out to his family.

I met Dave twice, and I can honestly say they were amazing memories. Whenever we played Charltomn away, my Dad immediately rang up Dave to arrange a drink. This season we met him and his friends in the conservative club near The Valley, there was a group of about 4/5 of us Watford fans of which he hadn't met apart from me and my dad but he talked and joked with them like he had known him all his life. I guess that was the kind of person he was. The stories he told I'll never forget espically the one where he fell asleep on the sofa for Charltons biggest game in the season, Palace away. When my dad told me the terrible news my toughts went immediately to his family.
    RIP an inspiration.

What a sad and tragic loss. I knew Dave through our son's friendship at nursery. he was always smiling and very geniune. The last memory I have of him was recently when he was dropping Daniel off at nursery. He was stood outside laughing and waving as Daniel was jumping up and down waving goodbye at the window.

Love to Shelley and Daniel, stay strong.

    Dave rest in peace.

I worked with Dave at A.M. a year or so ago. I was devestated when i heard the news. A great guy who always brightened up the day with a joke and a dig about Northerners. He was a great great guy and he'll be missed by many. My love and condolences go to his family.

I only just heard the tragic news of Dave's death. Dave was our traffic boy at Publicis on the Boots Account and was so full of fun, laughter and taught me some of the most terrible but hysterical phrases. Shelley & Daniel, and all the family - Dave's love and laughter will always live in your hearts. Leighx
