FIREFIGHTERS spent more than 12 hours tackling house fires across the region last night.
The roof of a home in Arica Road, Brockley, was badly damaged and partly collapsed because of heat and flames.
Everyone in the property managed to get out before the fire brigade arrived but their home has suffered water damage.
Crews from New Cross, Lewisham and Greenwich were called to the incident at around 6.30pm yesterday (May 8) and were there for about eight hours.
The cause is under investigation.
A house in Valley Lane, Meopham, was badly damaged and its roof was destroyed by a fire which started just before midnight.
The occupants were in the home when the blaze started but all of them managed to escape.
Two fire engines from Thames Side, Borough Green and Larkfield stations attended the incident.
The crews from Thames Side got back to their fire station about four-and-a-half hours later.
