BORIS Johnson visited the area as part of his campaign to become London Mayor.
Mr Johnson, 43, is currently on a tour of all the London boroughs.
He met with Greenwich councillors on Old Dover Road bridge in Greenwich today (September 20) to observe busy traffic on the A102 below.
The Conservative, who revealed he is a fan of News Shopper, said he doesn't think Greenwich should join the Congestion Charge zone.
He added: "I think we have got to cut down on emissions.
"We have to reduce London's general output of CO2 but I want to see measures that actually encourage people rather than clobber them."
Councillor Alex Wilson of Blackheath Westcombe ward, said: "I'm pleased with the visit.
"I think the one real area that the Mayor of London can genuinely affect in Greenwich is transport.
"That's why Boris was here today. I'm glad he is looking at the problem."
