Officers trying to find a missing 12-year-old will be appealing for help in the area where he disappeared seven days ago.

They will be handing out leaflets and talking to members of the public between 1pm and 6pm today in the Pavilion Leisure Centre and the Glades Shopping Centre, Bromley.

Parvinder Singh was last seen at around 4pm on August 26 near the shopping centre in the High Street after going for a swim with two friends.

He is described as Asian, with short black spikey hair, is 4ft 11in tall and of a thin build.

When he was last seen, he was wearing black trousers and a mustard-coloured shirt with a silver design on the pockets and black trainers.

Police are growing increasingly concerned because Parvinder has only been in the country for a short while, does not speak much English and does not have any money with him.

They believe his full name is Parvinder Sonu Singh and that he came to the United Kingdom in June with his parents.

'Abandoned' at gurdwara

It appears he was taken in a taxi from the airport to a gurdwara in London.

He was put into foster care when his parents did not go back to the Sikh temple to collect him.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Bryan Davidson said: "By all accounts, Parvinder settled in well with his foster family.

"He has been described as a particularly bright and thoughtful boy who has given no indication at all of running away.

"We know that his Sikh culture and religion are particularly important to him and there is every chance that he may attend a Gurdwara in order to pray.

"For this reason we would appeal to members of the Sikh community to be particularly vigilant and report any sightings to police."
