A SECOND man has been charged with the murder of a man neighbours describe as a "real gent".

Tutu Kabalika, 19, of Picardy Road, Belvdere is due in Sutton Magistrates' Court today, charged with the murder of Stephen Miller.

Dennis Hind of Churchbury Avenue, Eltham, appeared at Greenwich Magistrates' Court yesterday on the same charge and was remanded in custody until December 3.

Mr Miller died after sustaining a severe head injury outside a block of flats in Middle Park Avenue, Eltham, at 4.40am on August 25.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, but was pronounced dead shortly after the ambulance arrived.

Unmarried Mr Miller is thought to have lived with his brother in Middle Park Avenue.

One resident of the estate, who did not want to be named, said: "He would sit on the bench up the street and enjoy a drink with his friends. He was polite, good as gold.

"He was a real gent, always looking out for people, really genuine.

"I was gutted when I heard it was him, he was one of the few nice people on this estate.

"I've lived here for seven years and I've never heard anything like it.

"He didn't have a pot to p*ss in but he would share his last pound with you if he thought you needed it. It's very sad."

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Mr Miller on Saturday at Greenwich Mortuary and the results are expected shortly.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4005.

To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
