POLICE are seeking a third suspect in their investigation into the murder of a 20-year-old man.

Officers were called to Barnfield Road, Plumstead, at around 11pm on July 14, after reports of a shooting.

The victim, who died the following day, has been identified as Abdala Jama, a factory worker, from Plumstead.

A post-mortem examination conducted at Greenwich Mortuary on Monday gave the cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Nearby resident Mohamad Ahmed, 35, said: "We heard one gunshot. I heard it was a Somalian that got shot.

"It's not bad here, I've never heard of anything like this happening before."

Another resident, who did not want to be named, said: "We fought for this area to be good with police and MPs but now it's gone bad again."

Three people were arrested in connection with the investigation last Tuesday.

Two women, aged 21 and 18 have been bailed pending further enquiries, and a 19-year-old man has been released with no further action being taken.

Police are seeking a further three men in connection with Mr Jama's murder.

The first man is described by witnesses as a Somalian man, aged around 20, around 6ft and with short dark hair.

He was wearing a black hooded top, black trousers, black gloves and a black beanie-style hat.

The second man is described as a Somalian man in his mid-20s. He was wearing a blue hooded top, blue baggy jeans and a baseball cap.

There is no description of the third man at this time.
