A 43-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life after he was run over and dragged along by a car.

The incident took place in Old Road West, Gravesend, on May 31.

The victim was crossing the road between 7.20-7.30 that evening when a silver-coloured Ford Escort which was parked in the road reversed into him.

The driver hit the man and continued to drag him down the street until a witness started banging on his window.

The driver then drove off in the direction of Pelham Road and Perry Street.

He is described as Asian, in his late 20s or early 30s.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Sutton, who is leading the inquiry, said:"The person who was driving this vehicle either panicked or callously left this man for dead.

"We really need to find him and the car he was driving and I would appeal for anyone who may have any information about this crime to contact us."

The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition, with serious head injuries.
