HUNDREDS of people, including bereaved mothers, took to the streets in a ceasefire march today.

Mothers, including Nancy Odunewu and Eileen Gale-Bent, walked chanting "put down the knives, no more guns" from Catford to Lewisham Police Station.

The station was near to where Ms Odunewu's son, Emmanuel, was stabbed to death at a nearby bus stop last November.

The crowd gathered outside the station and held a one minute silence for the 19-year-old.

Ms Odunewu spoke to the people, saying "Let us unite together and be a community that looks after each other's children."

She also called for the people to remember Rochelle Holness, who was butchered in September 2005.

Convicted rapist John McGrady is currently serving a whole life sentence for her murder.

Jason Gale-Bent was stabbed in Woodpecker Path, just 30 yards from his front door, in New Cross, last September.

His mother Eileen spoke out today how she feels justice still has not be done.

Nobody has been charged for the crime.

Lewisham East MP Bridget Prentice also took part in the march.

The procession then continued to Mountsfield Park, Catford.
