FIVE alleged "crack houses" have been closed down and 12 people arrested following raids across Lewisham.

The raids were carried out in a partnership between Lewisham police and various safer neighbourhood teams across the borough.

All the 12 were arrested at the scenes of the premises after the March 6 raids, which targeted drugs and stolen property.

A Lewisham police spokesman said: "This intelligence led operation was instigated after concerns by the local community of an increase in burglary and anti-social behaviour and has resulted in the issue of five crack house closure orders being served on two commercial and three residential premises."

The following premises were closed as a result of the raids:

  • Two business addresses in , Brockley Road, Lewisham
  • A house in Hazledon Road, Crofton Park
  • A house in Stondon Park, Crofton Park
  • A flat in Wickham Road, Brockley

The following people were arrested and appeared at Greenwich Magistrates' Court on March 8. They were remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on March 15.

  • Richard Lindsay, 52, a shop manager from Brockley Road, Brockley, was charged with three counts of supplying class A drugs and one count of allowing the premises to be used for the supply of drugs.
  • Omar Watson, a 26-year-old barber from New Cross Road, New Cross, was charged with five counts of supplying class A drugs and one count of possession of class A drugs.
  • Unemployed Daniel Lloyd Elliot, 48, of Wickham Road, Brockley, was charged with seven counts of supplying class A drugs and one count of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
  • Unemployed Jacqueline Moore, 53, of Hazeldon Road, Brockley, was charged with being an occupier of a premises involved in the supply of class A drugs and one count of supplying class A drugs.

Further arrests:

  • Frederick Wing, 43, of Glensdale Road, Brockley, was charged with possession of class A drugs.

Wing appeared at Greenwich Magistrates' Court on March 8 and was bailed to appear again on March 15.

However, he was then held in custody pending an appeal over his bail decisions and will now appear at Blackfriars Crown Court at a later date.

  • Dwight Holder, 29, of Lewisham Road, Lewisham, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

He was bailed on conditions of residence and must report to Lewisham police station at regular intervals. He will appear at Greenwich Magistrates' Court on April 19.

  • A 51-year-old electrician from Forest hill was arrested and bailed to return to a south London police station on April 2.
  • A 44-year-old unemployed man of no fixed address was also bailed to return on March 29.
  • A 46-year-old builder from Catford has been bailed to return on April 26.
  • A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
  • A 42-year-old carpenter from Catford was bailed to return on April 3.
  • A 37-year-old unemployed woman from Deptford was released without charge.
