POLICE would like to speak to this man in connection with an armed robbery in which a 64-year-old man was pistol-whipped.

The man was taken by surprise by five intruders who rushed into his flat in Winchfield Road, Sydenham, after he opened the door.

One man pointed a silver handgun at him and demanded money.

The victim was then dragged into the kitchen, where the same man found some money but demanded more.

After being dragged back to the hallway, the victim made a grab for the handgun.

During the struggle, he was pistol-whipped twice on the back of the head.

The group then forced the man into his bedroom where they helped themselves to two mobile phones, cash, flat keys and car keys.

Taking advantage of the intruders being distracted, the victim managed to escape.

He managed to get out of the flat by a communal landing and raise the alarm at a neighbours' home.

The intruders then fled the scene.

It is believed they may have attempted to steal the victim's car but were disturbed by neighbours.

The man police would like to speak to in connection with the incident is around 24 years old, 6ft 2in, with slight stubble and a scar on one cheek.

He was wearing a red and white woolly hat and a black jacket.

The other four suspects are described as black youths aged between 13 and 17 years old.

Police believe one of the youths was carrying a small black handgun.
