UPDATE: Overturned lorry forces closure of busy Dartford road

Two lanes have been closed whilst the lorry is removed. Two lanes have been closed whilst the lorry is removed.

AN overturned lorry has caused a busy Dartford road to be closed.

The A206, University Way, has been shut in both directions for emergency repairs after a lorry flipped onto its side at around 10am.

Contents from the haulage lorry – believed to be rapeseed oil - spilled across the carriageway.

The driver of the lorry sustained a cut to his head but was conscious and talking when police officers arrived at the scene.

Three street lights and the road’s central reservation barrier were damaged in the incident.

The road remained open throughout the morning with lane restrictions in place but was closed at 2pm for maintenance work.

No stating that the driver was at fault, but people fly up and down this stretch of road like it is a racetrack given that it has a 70mph speed limit.

I thought it was 50mph speed limit - although people just go 70mph.

I think it is 70mph limit on that stretch, it has national speed limit signs on it (as far as I can remember) which on a dual carriageway is 70 mph, though it is 50 for lorries (sorry my knowledge of highway code is hazy lol). That said though 70 is fast to go on that road, never feels safe to me!!

it has the national speed limit signs up so is 70mph. Last friday I was going down there and had a hugh muck away lorry going faster than me and I was doing about 65mph, he was all over the place when he got to the roundabouts. Never will forget the accident I saw where the car ended up upside down on up the embankment with its whol back axel ripped off!
