A MURDER investigation is under way after a man died in Barnehurst yesterday.

Police believe the victim is 64-year-old Edward Syrad, although formal identification is yet to take place.

Suspects entered a house around 10pm, tied up two occupants and stole some property.

Police, and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended, but the man was pronounce dead at the scene.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed, and a police said a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

An incident room has been opened by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command under Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons.

DCI Lyons said: “One line of enquiry is burglary although at this early stage of the investigation we are keeping an open mind with regards to a motive.

"We would appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything, or has any information regarding this murder, to come forward and assist police.”
