A YOUNG athlete made a splash doing her first Olympic length triathlon, at the age of 10.
Lexie Webb, who is a member of Beckenham swimming club, decided to take part in the event to raise money for the British Heart Foundation after her Grandma had a heart operation.
Though Lexie, from Dulwich, had previously taken part in children’s triathlons, it was the first time she had done the Olympic distance, which involves a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run.
This was the third time she has taken on a challenge for charity.
When she was eight she took part in a 64 length Marie Curie swimathon after her aunt died of cancer and last year swam 100 lengths to raise money for the Crusaders Union, a charity which used the money to rebuild a village in Mexico.
Her Dad, Paul Webb, 48, said: “I was absolutely flabbergasted when she finished it. She’s unbelievably determined, if she decides to do something she will, come hell or high water. I’m unbelievably proud.”
