A MURDERED private investigator’s family is pushing the Home Secretary Theresa May for a full judicial inquiry into his murder.

Daniel Morgan, 37, was found with an axe in his head in the car park of the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham in 1987.

Five separate Met Police investigations have failed to lead to the conviction of those responsible for killing the private detective.

And his family is set to meet the Home Secretary today as they say the case is crying out for a judicial inquiry.

Daniel’s brother Alastair said: “We consider that the material placed before her cries out for proper public scrutiny of the murder and its handling by the police and the prosecuting authorities over the years.

“We know she will need courage to ensure that there is such scrutiny - courage which we have found to be signally lacking in her predecessors.”
