A GREENWICH MP is tying the knot with a fellow MP who used to be his parliamentary aide.

Labour MP for Greenwich and Woolwich Nick Raynsford will marry his long-term partner Alison Seabeck in a private ceremony in Greenwich this autumn.

The couple have been together for around six years and previously worked together for about 13 years when Ms Seabeck was Mr Raynsford’s adviser.

Both MPs are divorcees and between them have five daughters, a granddaughter and grandchild on the way.

Speaking to News Shopper, Mr Raynsford said: "It will be a private occasion in Greenwich."

Between wedding planning and parliamentary duties, Mr Raynsford can also be spied pulling pints at his local pub the Greenwich Union.

He will man the pumps on Monday as part of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group - designed to promote pubs as hubs within the community and raise money for charity.

Alison Seabeck

Alison Seabeck is currently the shadow Defence Minister and MP for Plymouth Moor View.

The Labour MP is the daughter of Michael Ward - who was also a former Labour MP for Peterborough.

She first arrived at Westminster as an assistant to Roy Hattersley before becoming fiancé Nick Raynsford’s Commons adviser in 1992.

Ms Seabeck was elected to represent Plymouth Devonport in 2005 which was renamed Plymouth Moor View in 2010.

I remember Nick's smug grin as he brushed aside a weeping Rosie Barnes at the count in 1992. He ain't the nicest of people.

As for pubs, NuLabs smoking ban has closed thousands. It will take more than quiz nights, tarot readings, and rich people pulling pints to reopen them.

Goes to prove politicians do all they can to 'keep it in the family'.

I wonder if they will try to claim the cost of the wedding and honeymoon as expenses?
