What a load of nonsense over nothing!

The council pay a firm to deliver leaflets for them, Meridian pay the firm to deliver their glossy magazine, the estate agents pay the firm to deliver their adverts, the pizza firm pay the same firm to deliver their menus and the Boris campaign pay the firm to deliver (yet another!) Boris leaflet. All the leaflets get delivered at the same time and they all go into the recycling at the same time but some loony lefty chooses to make a fuss over nothing!

Jim Dowd should find better things to do with his time!

What absolute rubbish, I bet most people didn't read either of them anyway. It's this sort of crass stupidity that costs us a fortune.

Whilst I totally understand why there are rules about council leaflets and election leaflets being separate - everyone involved has realised it was just a good old fashioned balls up, no conspiracy etc. Everyone has said sorry, it shouldn't happen again.

I complained about the Boris leaflet being enclosed within official council literature, to the NS, and to my local councillor. Using public funding for partisan leaflets is not a minor matter. Not everybody who lives in the Bromley borough supports Tory politicians, and not everybody considers an abuse of public money to be "a fuss over nothing".

Setting aside the fact that complaining about the Council was inappropriate, as the decision was taking solely by London letterbox operatives (who have since apologised in writting and the NS have a copy of their letter), no public money was spent on the Environment Matters leaflet either (it's sponsored by Veolia) so that's another false assertion and excuse I'm afraid.

It was not a "small" matter at all, it could have had very serious repercussions. As for "political gain", as I have written before on these boards I will not be voting for either of the faces of "Ben".

For Dowd to claim that Bromley Council aren't used to being called to account is laughable. Hello pot, kettle etc! This is the man who voted strongly for the illegal war in Iraq and voted against there being any investigation into it! He is clearly a man who hates eing called to account himself.

OK Jim is perhaps putting on the style a bit, but remember that he is the first non Tory MP to represent any part of the current Bromley borough since Charles Wyckham Martin lost in 1859. He will not be representing Penge after 2015 since the Boundary Commission have recommended reversing their changes of ten years ago & returning Penge to Beckenham. If they had left the boundaries alone then Orpington would have been spared the final four years of John "Thunderbolt" Horam.

There's bigger things to worry about than getting some leaflet incorrectly delivered. Mistake was made - that's it. No point wasting public time and money saying any more.

The other day I received leaflets from two different takeaways AT THE SAME TIME. They are clearly in cahoots, so I don't feel safe ordering from either of them. After destroying the leaflets in a controlled explosion, I put on my tin-foil hat and retreated to the basement.
